Getting an education can be a challenge for any child in African, especially the indigent children in Nigeria. One out of only eight girls get through the sixth grade. But it has become a necessity for these poor communities, as many parents cannot read or write or even speak English…they have to rely on their children.

While the government has provided for “free” Elementary School, there are required costs per year for school supplies, craft supplies, even toilet paper to be able to attend school. Higher education is even more challenging, as it is not free.

However, for Secondary School there is tuition, uniforms, books, class and other fees. High School is almost double the cost per year of primary, with these same expenses plus transportation. This is out of reach for the typical Nigerian family.
